How to set up my personal keyboard as standard input in my app

I created a small keyboard to replace the standard Android keyboard. What should I do to set my keyboard as standard input in my app? Thanks

Android: sending SMS through intent with body and returning back.

I am trying to send a SMS through an intent, I want to add a body to the message. After user press send I want to return to the app. I’ve added extra as sms_body and exit_on_sent. But when I use them both the SMS appears without the body. If i don’t use the exit_on_sent […]

Extract / distinguish ActivityAlias name from TargetActivity

I have multiple ActivityAliases which all start one single TargetActivity. Inside of my TargetActivity I try to distinguish the alias that started the TargetActivity. The aliases are defined in Manifest as launchables (intent-filter), which will be displayed as shortcuts on the homescreen. The user will click on the shortcut and android will start the activity, […]

Android TV not starting LAUNCH_LEANBACK Activity

I want to create a single apk that will be compatible with mobile and TV. As I understand I should specify the launcher activity for both platforms in manifest, one for mobile with
, another for TV with
intent filter. And Android should automatically pick the right activity when launching, […]

Samsung My Files explorer: Pick file Intent

Intent selectFile = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_GET_CONTENT); selectFile.setType(“file/*”); startActivityForResult(Intent.createChooser(selectFile, “Select File”), SELECT_FILE); Does anyone know how to handle that samsung explorer? I […]

Android , broadcasting parcelable data

I’ve implemented a class that extends NotificationListenerService which works fine for picking up on notifications posted. I’m then wanting to take the statusBarNotification object received and broadcast it. I’d doing the following: @Override public void onNotificationPosted(StatusBarNotification statusBarNotification) { Intent intent = new Intent(); intent.putExtra(“STATUS_BAR_NOTIFICATION”,statusBarNotification); intent.setAction(“com.example.NotificationPosted”); sendBroadcast(intent); } But when I do this I get the […]

Android pick email intent

I’d like to pick an email from the contacts list. Picking a contact is not good enough, because a contact can have several emails. Using the API demo, I managed to pick a contact, phone number and even an address. Example: Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_GET_CONTENT); intent.setType(ContactsContract.Contacts.CONTENT_ITEM_TYPE); // OR intent.setType(ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.Phone.CONTENT_ITEM_TYPE); // OR intent.setType(ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.StructuredPostal.CONTENT_ITEM_TYPE); BUT, when […]

Pick a directory/file using Intent.ACTION_CREATE_DOCUMENT (Storage Access Framework)

As explained here: http://www.doubleencore.com/2014/03/android-external-storage/ or here: http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/02/17/external-blues-google-has-brought-big-changes-to-sd-cards-in-kitkat-and-even-samsung-may-be-implementing-them/ KitKat is limiting writing to the secondary external storage to the package specific directory (although some developers have found a workaround already…). With Samsung using the sdcard as a secondary external storage and rolling out it’s 4.4.2 update this has become a major issue for many apps. My […]
