Coloring Android Status Bar in Nav Drawer

In this app I’m building, I’ve added a Navigation Drawer fragment into my activity. I’m using 5.0, so I’ve been able to set the primaryColor and primaryColorDark to get the right colors. I’ve decided to try and style my Nav Drawer to be very similar to Google Now’s drawer in 5.0, where the Nav Drawer […]

Automatic layout mirroring in right-to-left locale with lollipop

I have recently checked a widget of an application I developed on a device running lollipop and a right-to-left locale (Hebrew). The problem is that Android 5 (lollipop) automatically mirrors everything on the widget (even images), so a text or image that is left adjusted will become right adjusted. This breaks up the widget design. […]

Understanding necessity of Android VSYNC signals

I’m trying to get a better understanding of the Android display subsystem, but one item that’s still confusing to me is how VSYNC signals are handled, and why so many exist in the first place. Android is designed to use VSYNC at its core, but there are multiple VSYNC signals that it employs. Via https://source.android.com/devices/graphics/implement.html […]

Where do I define XML for the Toolbar widget in Android 5.0?

Okay, I’ve been going through several StackOverflow posts now, but I’m still confused as to where this xml for my Toolbar goes. <android.support.v7.widget.Toolbar android:id=”@+id/my_awesome_toolbar” android:layout_height=”wrap_content” android:layout_width=”match_parent” android:background=”@styles/colorPrimary” /> Does it go in my /layout/activity_main.xml?
